Attention Scientific American:

This is a solo project I produced on a razor thin budget for Anders Andersen’s company YouTube page. The brief called for a gritty, cinematic YouTube-style piece that immerses viewers in his jungle survival course.

This film is not a proof of concept for Elusive Colors: Searching for the Rockstone Poison Dart Frog. It was shot and edited entirely by me, in a run-and-gun style, in a region of Guyana far from the frog’s known habitat. The expedition was purely instructional, designed to teach bushcraft skills, and the film serves to promote the course to prospective students.

That said, the piece demonstrates Andersen’s and James’s on-camera presence, showcases the boats, hammocks, and field equipment that will also feature in Elusive Colors, and provides a visual sense of the rainforest environment in this part of the world.

This short piece I produced shows Lionel James speaking about the jungle in Makushi language. Lionel and Andersen are longtime collaborators. Lionel will work as one of the guides on the Elusive Colors expedition, and he will be featured prominently on camera. He also speaks fluent English.
